Introduction
This course is for all staff with a valid 3 year HSE First Aid at Work Certificate that will soon require renewal
Aim
The course will enable Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1991 Certificate holders to renew their qualification for three years
Participants
Candidates must be 19 years or older at the start of the course
Candidates must take their renewal exam within 28 days of their qualification expiring
Objectives
By the end of the course participants will be competent in:
- Resuscitation, Shock,
- Bleeding,
- Unconsciousness,
- First Aid Kits/Boxes,
- Transporting Casualties,
- Minor Injuries to Bones, Muscles & Joints, Burns & Scalds, Eye Injuries,
- Poisons,
- Record Keeping,
- Hygiene
- Communication in First Aid Emergency.

Style
The course involves practical and theoretical sessions. Handouts will be issued highlighting areas of particular importance. Assessment takes place on the second day and at the end of the course candidates will be

The course lasts for two days.
Note
A notebook and pen will be required. Candidates are advised to dress casually and ladies must wear trousers.
