Entry Requirements
Candidates at this level should have a minimum 6 months experience of working in a supervisory or senior role in their chosen care sector e.g., residential, nursing, domiciliary, learning disability etc. Candidates should have undertaken training, both statutory and non-statutory, and may have achieved a Level 2 qualification.
In order to undertake this qualification candidates must be working in a supervisory position i.e. as a team leader, senior or similar.
They must be involved in the following:
Care planning
- Key work sessions with SUs
- Attendance and participation in review meetings
- Monitoring and reviewing care plans
- Updating care plans
Staff meetings
- Full participation
Records
- Storing and access
- Updating
- Monitoring
- Have some responsibility for health and safety
Programme Details
This is a nine-month assessment programme. A qualified and experienced assessor will observe candidates during their everyday work activities. With their assessors guidance they will build a portfolio of evidence to meet the National Occupational Standards.
National Vocational Qualification
Candidates at this level may wish to progress to management level. The level 3 qualification will give the candidate the grounding to do this effectively.
Qualification requirement
At level 3 candidates will achieve 8 units of competence, 4 of which are core units.
Please note that there is no direct transfer between levels.

- HSC 32 Promote, monitor and maintain health, safety and security in the working environment
- HSC 33 Reflect on and develop your practise
- HSC 35 Promote choice, well-being and the protection of all individuals
Option units are provided on CD-rom by City and Guilds and all candidates registered will be supported by their assessor in choosing the appropriate route to qualification.

Fee £1050 + VAT (£1233.75)
Option of pay by instalments interest free:
£183.75 deposit plus 7 monthly instalments of £150.00.
