Entry Requirements
Candidates should have a wide experience of working in the care sector in a managerial capacity. Be responsible for staff, and accountable for coordinating a care service.
In order to undertake this qualification candidates must be working at least middle management level.
They must be fully involved in the following;
- Liaison with care managers, social workers, CPN etc, and family members.
- Arranging and chairing care plan reviews
- Monitoring care plans
- Implementing care plans
- Updating care plans

Programme Details
This is a nine-month assessment programme. Six support workshops will be delivered where candidates will receive expert support and guidance to complete the knowledge requirements of this level. Candidates will also be observed in the workplace during their everyday work activities and build a portfolio of evidence to meet the National Occupational Standards
National Vocational Qualification
All managers of a care service are required to hold the relevant qualifications under the Care Standards Act. Those managers with no qualifications in nursing or social work will benefit from this award.
Qualification requirements
At level 4, candidates will achieve 8 units of competence, 4 of which are core and 4 optional.
Core Units
- HSC 41 Use and develop methods and systems to communicate record and report
HSC 42 Contribute to the development and maintenance of healthy and safe practises in the working environment
- HSC 43 Take responsibility for the continuing professional development of others
- SSC 45 Develop practises which promote choice, well-being and protection of all individuals
Option units are provided on CD-rom by City and Guilds and all candidates registered will be supported by their assessor in choosing the appropriate route to qualification.

Fee £1250.00 + VAT (£1468.75)
Option of pay by instalments interest free:
£298.75 deposit plus 6 monthly instalments of £195.00.
