People Management Skills for Managers
This course looks at the difficulties faced by first-line managers when managing people, and how to manage more effectively. Delegates practice interpersonal skills, assertiveness, communication, motivation, leadership and counselling.

  • Distinguishing between assertiveness, non-assertive and agressive behaviour; and practicing these skills handling difficult staff

  • The importance of effective managerial, interpersonal and communication skills.

  • The need to respect the need for confidentiality
  • How and why conflict occurs.
  • Ways of recording conflicts and their outcomes in line with procedures

How to create effective working relationships by:

  • Gaining the commitment, trust and support of those with whom you work.
  • Showing respect and honouring promises.
  • Providing oppourtunities for people to air problems or concerns

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Assess your leadership style, and preparing and managing your self-development plan.
  2. Plan and manage your own time
  3. Create and manage working relationships with line managers, colleagues and team members.
  4. Inform people of expected standards of work and behaviour.
