Golf, Cricket, football, rugby, basket ball and most sports consist of teams of people working together.
Organisations are about people working together and, therefore, developing effective teams must be a prime responsibility for all who manage groups of people. This programme will help you to lead and develop your team more effectively. It is suitable for team leaders, existing and potential team leaders, supervisors and managers.
By attending this programme delegates will:

- Action planning - transferring the skills and knowledge back to the workplace.
- Team leadership in action-practicing the skills in various team activities.
Aims:
Specifically, the workshop aims to help you learn how to:
- Identify issues which affect performance.
- Select and apply the best course of action from the range of approaches available to you.
- Follow through to achieve the desired effect.
Improving the performance of your team:
- Performance issues can relate to both good, average and poor performance
- Your role in recognising and responding to performance issues affecting members of your team
- When an issue is beyond your own level of responsibility and how to refer it.
- The need to maintain confidentiality and respect for the individual.
- The range of support services both within and outside your organisation.
How to help team members improve performance by:
- Promptly identifying performance issues (good or bad)
- Creating oppourtunities and an atmosphere that encourages your team members to talk frankly about any performance issues
- Knowing what management approaches are available to you and selecting the most appropriate.
- Making support services available if required.
- Assisting the individual/team to correct a short-fall or build on existing strengths
- Enoucraging individuals to contribute to a joint course of action.
- Reviewing the course of action to ensure the objective has been met.
Learning Outcomes:
- Identify individual/team performance problems.
- Conduct a performance counselling session whilst maintaining respect for the individual
- Provide help and support to a team member in order to improve performance
- Perpare an action plan to address the performance issue and monitor progress
- Contribute effectively to the disciplinary /grievance procedure in line with company policy and legal requirements.
- Maintain confidentiality when dealing with a grievance or disciplinary situation.
