Time Management
The most valuable resource is time. It is a common complaint that 'there are not enough hours in the day' yet a typical manager devotes the majority of available time to low priority work. The potential to achieve more in your job and career is partly dependent upon time management. Delegates will be given a series of individual exercises and guidance in improving their use of time.

Understanding:
- The process of setting and reviewing personal objectives.
- The importance of reviewing work regularly and re-scheduling to achieve your objectives.
- The importance of time management to you in your management role and the techniques to use.
- The skills and pitfalls of delegation.
How to:
- Set SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Time-Related) objectives for yourself which make effective use of your personal resources.
- Estimate the time you need to achieve them and plan accordingly, avoiding unhelpful interruptions.
- Use e-communication as a time-saving tool - organise e-mail, avoid over-informing, etc.
- Delegate work to others and monitor their progress.
