We require a Key/Functional Skills tutor to assist in the delivery of Literacy and Numeracy skills programmes in the Apprenticeship Framework to level 2 on a new and exciting initiative in Kent and the South East.

Job description
Dynamic Key/Functional Skills tutor to assist in the delivery of the Apprenticeship Framework. As part of the role, you will be expected to:
  • Work with awarding bodies in setting up and managing online testing for literacy and numeracy
  • Undertake diagnostic assessments of literacy and numeracy
  • Teach in small groups and on a one to one basis
  • Develop schemes of work tailored to the frameworks that we deliver
  • Assist in developing the integration of key/functional skills into the Apprenticeship programmes we deliver
  • Lead on developing schemes of work for Functional Skills 
Qualifications and experience
Candidates are required to have a teaching qualification and proven track record in delivering Skills for Life and Key Skills and knowledge / understanding of Functional Skills. Although this post is based in the Kent and the South-East, we also work across England therefore you should be willing to travel. 

Salary will be paid based on knowledge and experience.
Education Level
A - Level / Scottish Highers / BTEC or NVQ equivalent

Trainers/Assessors required (Full and Part-Time)

Trainers/Assessors required (Full and Part-Time)

for the following subjects:

 

1.     Health & Social Care

2.     Business Administration

3.     Customer Service

 

PURPOSE OF THE JOB 

  • Carry out Apprenticeship training, assessment and (preferably) verification
  • Provide candidate enrolment, induction, advice and portfolio development
  • Maintain efficient records and track progress of candidates
  • Where appropriate, conduct Internal Verification
  • Support Lead IV's in quality assuring the process.

 

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

1.     Implement Company wide training/assessment policy

2.     Record, collect and report candidate attendance, achievement and retention data

3.     Maintain operational contact with the Lead Verifier(s)

4.     Where required, carry out Internal Verification

5.     Investigate candidate complaints / appeals against training/assessment process

6.     Assist with Risk Assessment of placement environments

7.     Record the progress of candidates and conduct interviews at formative and summative stages of their training

8.     Contribute to EV visits

9.     Keep abreast of and put into action changes and developments in training/assessment best practice

10.   Attend regular meetings with Lead Verifier(s) and key personnel to disseminate the information

11.   To assist Projects Manager in designing and delivering training for staff.

12.   Design and deliver training materials.

DEPARTMENT: Marketing
BUSINESS UNIT: Employer Engagement
POST: Employer Engagement Coordinator
RESPONSIBLE TO: Office Manager         
RESPONSIBLE FOR: Employer liaison and student recruitment
SALARY: £11065 - £13600 pa plus bonus
 
 
BASIC OBJECTIVES OF THE POST 
  1. Generate course bookings in designated geographical area
  2. Be responsible for the day to day contact with employers in the designated geographical area (telephone or visit)
  3. Devise and implement strategies to seek out, contact and develop a professional relationship with employers including presentations at their premises if required
  4. Develop and co-ordinate professional relationships with employers thereby ensuring long-term repeat business
  5. Be responsible for Area and Individual Action planning and ensure all targets are achieved
  6. Ensure that enquiries generated or places booked are conveyed to the appropriate person eg Projects Manager
  7. Record summary of all contacts made on MIS
  8. Ensure that strategies implemented encourage the promotion of equality, inclusiveness and diversity

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS                  None
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS                O level English and Maths
 
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 
  1. Experience of engaging employers
  2. Experience of successfully building and developing business relationships, thereby working effectively with a wide range of internal and external individuals and employers, including public, private and voluntary organisations and groups
  3. Experience of dealing with training issues of employers in achieving goals.
  4. Good time management
  5. A successful track record in self-management including establishing and tracking performance objectives, self-appraisal and self-development to achieve Company and service indicators
  6. An understanding of the current issues facing employers and training providers
 
 
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES 
  1. An awareness of and contribute to employer's decision-making processes
  2. The understanding, skills and ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders (including senior managers) to develop relationships that promote learning
  3. Ability to work effectively as part of a team and build relationships that are not limited by area boundaries
  4. Ability to manage and motivate employers in a variety of challenging circumstances, thereby encouraging them to think creatively and laterally

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  1. Good spoken English skills
  2. Good telephone manner and presentational skills
  3. A commitment to provide good quality service to internal and external customers
  4. Enthusiasm, flexibility and the ability to work under pressure, to meet deadlines, including willingness to work additional hours if required
